tasc Performance has been honored to join with No Barriers USA in living a life without barriers. No Barriers is a non-profit organization that serves wounded veterans and people with disabilities in unleashing the potential of the human spirit. Through transformative experiences, tools and inspiration, No Barriers USA helps people embark on a quest to contribute their absolute best to the world, while fostering a community of curious, brave and collaborative explorers.
tasc Performance encourages everyone to explore and pursue the adventure of life. We’ve been especially inspired to do so by our work with No Barriers Warriors and the Warriors to the Summit Program. This program permanently impacts lives by helping members of all military branches with disabilities tackle personal challenges.
Mountains serve as both metaphor and training ground for stretching goals, building world-class teams, innovating through adversity and stepping up to lead and serve others. tasc Performance helps provide official team gear for these amazing heroes as they summit peaks, trek cross country and explore their world. We are honored to know that Bamboo Performance Technology is providing the ultimate in comfort and performance for any challenge they might face on their journeys.
According to the 2014 Census, More than 3.8 million of the 19.3 million veterans in the US are coping with a service connected disability. Due to the improvements in battlefield medical treatment, they return alive, yet not whole. Service members are trained to depend on each other. Upon separation from the military, many veterans feel disconnected and alone, experiencing a significant and immediate loss in the lack of camaraderie and interdependence as they return to the civilian life. Programs like No Barriers Warriors are crucial to caring for the men and women who so bravely served and sacrificed so much for our country.
About a year ago, tasc Performance president Todd Andrews, met with many of the veterans and participants who benefitted from the No Barriers programs. In reflecting on the powerful stories he heard from participants, Todd said:
“The common thread through all of this was: with service to others, we serve ourselves. Service is blind, it has no pretense, it is honest, and it can unite us in a way that is as strong as family.”
