tasc Athlete Melissa Arnot Summits Everest - Sets New World Record

Bamboo Performance Technology reaches new heights with Melissa Arnot

On Monday, May 23, tasc athlete, professional mountain guide and high altitude climber, Melissa Arnot, became the first American woman to summit Mount Everest 6 times, and the first to successfully complete the climb without supplemental oxygen.  Melissa broke her own record for the most summits completed by an American woman, which she set in 2013.

“It has been an incredible journey to reaching this this long time goal,” said Melissa. “This experience on Everest was incredibly humbling and I feel so fortunate to be a student of this mountain and experience its continued greatness.”

A part-time EMT and medicine instructor, Melissa has been preparing for this accomplishment for the past two years, during which she has used the tasc Performance MOSOmerino base layers, an original blend of viscose from Bamboo, 18.5 micron Merino and Lycra, to keep her comfortable during extreme conditions. The unique fabric blend provides the ultimate in temperature regulation for her summit, training, travel and other expeditions.

FREEDOM TO PURSUE TO PURSUE THE ADVENTURE OF LIFE

Melissa’s pursuit of her athletic goals as well as her dedication to the improvement of the communities around her echoes tasc’s guiding principles of authenticity, originality and embodies the spirit to "pursue the adventure of life."

“We are thrilled for Melissa and her team to reach their goal,” said tasc President Todd Andrews. “It is very gratifying for us, a small family-operated company in New Orleans, to have an athlete like Melissa trust our product in such extreme conditions. Melissa represents the originality and authenticity that we strive for as a brand. We look forward to her safe return and supporting her future endeavors.”

This summer, tasc will also support Melissa as she embarks on the “50 Peaks Challenge” for which Melissa and her team will set out to climb the “Fifty High Points,” aiming to ascend the highest point in each state in 50 days. The Challenge will begin on the summit of Denali, Alaska in June and plan to end at the summit of Hawaii’s highest point in August.

GEARING UP AND GIVING BACK

In 2010, Melissa co-founded The Juniper Fund alongside fellow climber David Morton to provide support and resources for those families tragically affected by the earthquakes on Mt. Everest. In celebration of Melissa's monumental accomplishment, tasc is donating 30% of all online sales TODAY, Tuesday, May 24 to the Juniper Fund to further Melissa’s community initiatives.

At 32, Melissa is passionate about climbing and pushing her own limits, but her ultimate joy comes from sharing that journey with others, both while helping them push their limits and get to their own summit and while sharing the stories from some of the beautiful places in the world.
