tasc Performance partners with Trombone Shorty Foundation and artist Frenchy to #SaveDatSound in New Orleans

What do you think about when someone says "New Orleans?" Food, history, arts, Mardi Gras, of course ... and for many, especially the music lovers, you will undoubtedly conjure up the sounds of the city. The fabric of New Orleans is woven with the sound of jazz, blues, hip hop, dubstep... the list and the beats go on.  

On a visit to New Orleans, music can be found around every corner - from the streets, to the schools, to the music venues and beyond. Through New Orleans' music you get the past, the present, and sometimes even a glimpse into the future, of where we have been, where we are, and where we can go as a city. That's why tasc Performance, New Orleans born and based, has teamed up with the Trombone Shorty Foundation and New Orleans artist Frenchy for the #SaveDatSound Campaign to benefit the Trombone Shorty Foundation. 

“Partnering to benefit organizations like the Trombone Shorty Foundation is in the fabric of who we are,” said Todd Andrews, tasc Performance Co-Founder and President. “As a New Orleans born and based apparel company, we consider it our honor to help foster and preserve the things that make our city great, and that certainly includes our rich musical heritage.”

Founded by Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews in 2013, the Trombone Shorty Foundation is Andrews’ vision of sharing his passion to inspire the next generation by developing their musical talent and connecting them to the city’s unique musical heritage.

The mission of the Trombone Shorty Foundation is a powerful one:

New Orleans musicians understand the importance of teaching the younger ones this heritage, allowing them to carry on the city’s vibrant musical culture that continues to make our city such an exceptional place.
At the Trombone Shorty Foundation, we proudly contribute to this time-honored tradition of passing it on. Although many kids in New Orleans play an instrument, it’s a select few like Troy “Trombone Shorty” who have the opportunity to pursue music as a career on a national stage.
The Foundation strives to preserve and perpetuate our way-of-life by instilling an understanding of the importance of our musical culture in the next generation of New Orleans musicians—empowering them to play it forward.

 

Artist Frenchy has been capturing the sights and color of New Orleans for over 19 years. 

He's unique artistic style make his work iconic of the spirit and energy of New Orleans. Music has always played a big role in his art: 

New Orleans has been his home, and his muse, since 1997, where the eclectic street and music scene continuously inspire his creative expression to new levels. Immediately immersed into the sights and sounds of New Orleans, he could be found in music clubs such as the Maple Leaf Bar almost any night of the week, mastering his “acousti-optics” with musical legends such as the Grammy Award winning ReBirth Brass Band and James and Glen Andrews with Tuba Fats in Jackson Square.

In bringing together the musical power, the artistic vision and the most comfortable apparel out there, we're creating a powerful fusion of all some of the best things from New Orleans.

A donation of $25 or more to the #SaveDatSound campaign enters you into a contest to win this limited edition shirt - but more importantly, your support will provide music education to hundreds of youth and help preserve the rich musical cultural heritage of New Orleans. We're thrilled to announce that on Thursday April 28th, a percentage of all sales at tascperformance.com will benefit the Trombone Shorty Foundation. 

The exclusive #SaveDatSound shirts will also be available beginning April 29 at tascPerformance.com. 

#SaveDatSound is on the eve of Shorty Fest, the largest fundraiser of the year for the Trombone Shorty Foundation, held in conjunction with the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival weekend. This Jazz Fest tradition gathers stellar regional artists including the students the Foundation serves. All funds raised go towards music education, instruction, mentorship and musical performance programming for talented local youth.

This weekend, the music continues as the tasc Performance team in New Orleans gears up for one of our favorite times of the year - Jazz Fest! we hope you'll join us in celebrating the sounds of the city we are proud to call home.
